Project Description

As notebook computer and battery-powered equipment complexity increases, higher levels of power management integration are required to meet market demands. This power supply controller, the ISL6236, is a switch mode power supply, one programmable mode and a fixed mode for many applications.

This board was used in FEDEVEL Academy Altium Essentials course to recreate for learning purposes to understand how Altium Designer works.  Certification of course completion is available in 'certificates' section of website.

Schematic Symbol Library

Created schematic symbol library which includes various components such as resistors, inductors, transistors, PADs, and an IC chip by cross-referencing ISLA6236 datasheet reference schematics & ISLA6236 User Manual BOM (BOM is components list) with DigiKey part search database within Altium Designer to import all parts and draw symbols for each part.

PCB Stackup, Layout, and Routing

Completed PCB layout including finding right place for components, setting up PCB stack-up (layers, assigning nets to planes), set up rules (minimum track width, minimum clearance), Routing all components, and drawing polygons
